I was 17 when my family left and moved 2000 miles away to the east coast. 
I didn't understand it then, but the painful feelings coursing through my body as I watched the moving truck pull away.  I had felt these feelings of abandonment before, and they just reenforced what I I believed to be true at that time: I really am unlovable.

Looking for anything to make the pain go away, food became my go-to drug and savior...filling me up with delicious, soothing, and sweet happiness… until I was numbed out or sick to my stomach…over and over again.  

I used to sneak cake and ice cream hoping no one would notice.

I would watch hours of mindless TV while numbing out on entire bags of Oreos dipped in milk.  

Forty pounds later and mortified by the extra weight, I discovered how to lose weight fast… 
with exercise, dieting, and pills.

Phew… problem solved! 

(Right? OMFG...So wrong!)

Instead of learning how to listen to my body...
 I learned how to hate my body.

Instead of getting to the real reasons why I was holding excess weight in the first place... 

I worshiped the latest food and fitness "experts" like they would save me.

Instead of being able to solve my "body problems" and get on with my life...

I became an expert at losing and gaining 
the same 40+ pounds 40+ times.
 But I didn't just join a gym and go on a diet.  

In order to try to "solve my body", I got a degree in exercise physiology, became a Holistic Nutrition Educator and a 
Master Certified Personal Trainer. 

I opened a successful fitness company in Silicon Valley preaching the knowledge.  

Now here I am....armed with ALL of the information and knowledge about food and fitness... 

And yet... for me and my clients... 
it would only work temporarily.

As willpower faded
(as research proves it always does...), 

We'd be right back where we started.

The crazy thing was that during this time, I was never happy with my body no matter what my size, and I always ended up gaining the weight back plus some.

One night in my San Francisco apartment sitting alone on my kitchen floor eating another brownie sundae...
in so much pain and lost in my own shit...

I started ugly-crying and praying for a miracle.

I didn't know what I needed, but I knew it would never be another superficial "band-aid" fix.  

 I sold my fitness company knowing that women are 
sick of self-sabotaging their best efforts....
sick of feeling obsessed with food all the time...
sick of hating their own bodies... 
...and are craving a deeper more holistic approach to make 
real changes that last a lifetime.   

The kind of change where  the weight loss is just the cherry on top of a life that works...and I was willing to do whatever it took to figure it out.

I did TWO THINGS to come into my right-sized body, release 40 pounds for good, and finally feel freedom around food and fully alive in my body.

THING 1: Baby Steps.

I stopped going on diets for good, and made baby-step changes 
each day in how I lived, how I thought, and how I managed my emotions.  
Each baby step taught my nervous system I was safe.

THING 2: Healed the shit out of my blocks.

I learned how we hold old emotional wounds and trauma in the body, 
and I worked with trauma-informed somatically trained coaches to help me release these old blocks that literally kept me disconnected from my own self.

What does that even mean? Well...

I learned to reconnect to and listen to my own body 
instead of the latest guru or expert.

I learned to inhabit my body instead of numb out.

I learned to feel my feelings instead of stuff them down.

I learned to self care instead of self sabotage.

And the more I made good choices, (while my nervous system felt safe as I made them), the more I learned to trust myself.


It took me less than a year to easily come into my right-sized body 
because of "Thing 1".

And I have been in my right-sized body for almost a decade 
because of "Thing 2".

I was amazed at how easy my life felt living this way....  

Free, alive, deeply connected, and more awake to all that life has to offer.

For the first time in my life I felt mental and emotional freedom.  I not only felt "good", there was also a sense of ease, and pleasure awakened inside of me. 

None of my degrees or certifications (fitness, 
and nutrition up to this point)  taught me how to truly lose 
the physical, emotional, and mental weight.  

I finally got the physical transformation I was seeking by removing the blocks so my nervous system felt safe enough to release weight.
